The children in Year 1 have been sharing 'wonderings' about a lot of different things!
We have decided to explore 3 questions further.
These questions are:
* How do I make space drawings and creations?
* How do I solve tricky puzzles?
* Why do small creatures change and grow?
The children from Rooms 1, 2 and 3 have all chosen which workshop they would like to join.
The first group is exploring space art. Here is Jacob painting some sun spots. The children looked at some youtube clips and realised they also need to add some solar flares.
The children are really enjoying working with children from the other classrooms. This week they have sketched rockets and they are using materials to build their own 3D rockets.
Here is Ms Steel and the children talking about the tools they will need to get ready, to help their learning.
Children working in Room 2 having been solving jigsaw puzzles, mazes, treasure hunts and word finds. Next week the children want to make their own treasure maps.
Children in Room 1 have been looking at creatures, youtube clips, photos, books and posters to learn about the life cycle of frogs, honey bees, ladybirds and butterflies. Here is Brendon with his life cycle of a 7 spotted ladybird.
These children shared their finding with the other children at Whetu Time.
We compared the life cycle of a honey bee with the life cycle of a ladybird.
Here is the venn diagram we made to compare what is the same and what is different about their life cycles.
It's so great to see photos and read about what the children are doing while they are at school. Discovery time looks like so much fun! Stella made a sun with Ms Steel and has been telling us all about the different parts of the sun.
