Little Purple Riding Hood

Room 1 listened to the story of 'Little Red Riding Hood'. We decided to act out the story ourselves.

We pulled out the box of dress up costumes so that we could work out the characters that we needed.

We decided to change our story to 'Little Purple Riding Hood because we had a large purple scarf!

(Saya played the Grandmother)

Grandmother liked to make special things for her granddaughter. One day she made her a special purple cape. She wore it so often that soon people started to call her 'Little Purple Riding Hood'.

(Katelyn played the character of Mother)

One morning the girl's mother asked her to take some things to her grandmother to help her feel better.

(Jessica was Little Purple Riding Hood and Jonathan was her little brother.)

Her little brother gave her a special necklace to give to grandma as well.

(Archie decided to be the Father and he wore the Action Man costume!)

Her family told her to be careful walking through the forest and not to stop on her way.

(Shoka and Danielle played the forest fairies)

The forest fairies told her not to talk to strangers on the way.

(Bobby was the pirate)

"Ahoy me matey! Don't ever talk to strangers."

(AJ decided to be a wicked tiger instead of being the wolf)

Little Purple Riding Hood met a Tiger in the forest. He asked her to come and look for flowers. He ran on and went to Grandma's house.

The tiger hid in Grandma's house. He pretended to be Grandma. Tiger ate Little Purple Riding Hood up.

The woodcutter cut the tiger open and rescued Grandma and Little Purple Riding Hood.
Poor Tiger!

Here are the cast of our show!

Rock Garden

On Friday 24 February Syndicate 1 children started work on creating a rock garden during 'Discovery Time'. We planted some succulents and cacti.

We took out the old plants and weeded the garden.

Next we had to dig out some of the soil to make room for the rocks.

We planted some of Miss Collin's cacti.

Archie helped to place some of the rocks.

Bobby and Jonathan collected some manure from Mr Collin's trailer.

Mr Collins gave us great advice about the extra rocks that we might need.

These volcanic rocks were too big!

Mr Collins is going to give us some rocks from his garden.

Pop in to see how our new rock garden is doing!

Fish and Chip Evening

On Monday 30 January we welcomed the new children and their families to Merrin School. It was a great chance for the children to meet each other after the holidays and to see their new room set up.

Shoka starts in our class in March.

Saya loves to play on our playground.

Jessica was busy in the Garden Centre selling vegetables to her brother Jacob.

Dylan is starting his school visits in March. We can't wait!

Archie and his mum Nicola came home from holiday especially to be with us.

We were very pleased that it was a warm night.

Shoka loves hot chips.

It was great that the parents got to meet each other.

Archie likes to hang around.

We are very pleased that AJ is a Merrin School boy!
